1950’s Dunhill Aquarium Lighter
An Aquarium table lighter in table size with silver plated hardware. Each lighter is unique as they were hand carved and painted. The Dunhill Aquarium Lighters are miniature works of Mid Century Modern art that first appeared in 1949 and were made until 1959. They were luxury functional objects aimed at the wealthy and notable owners and collectors of Alfred Dunhill. The most well known owner of an Aquarium lighter was Sir Winston Churchill.
The artist behind the creation of the Aquarium lighters was Ben Shillingford a master engraver.
