A Louis Vuitton Lily Pons Shoe Trunk, circa 1925 in L.V. monogrammed canvas. The trunk is complete and original with the initials K.I.M to each side. The trunk is fitted for thirty pairs of shoes and compartments top and bottom for silk stockings.
The iconic Louis Vuitton Lily Pons Shoe trunk was named after the famous opera singer Lily Pons who began her career in Paris and ended up in America between the World Wars. “Gaston-Louis Vuitton recalled Lily Pons ordered a desk trunk for her shoes in 1925. Her feet were so small and slender that it was possible to store thirty-six pairs of shoes in a trunk intended for thirty pairs. It had thirty-six drawers, padded and labeled just like the original model for thirty pairs. There were also two compartments for silk stockings.
