A Louis Vuitton Library Trunk, circa 1920 in monogrammed canvas with the initials S.C. and the number 8. The trunk opens on it’s end to a central compartment with two drawers for files, the left door with Louis Vuitton canvas straps is for books and the right door for stationary, notebooks and pens.
The trunk is in excellent conditions with original hardware and beautiful heavy duty leather looped handles embossed with Louis Vuitton’s address clearly readable.
“The library trunks were met with wild enthusiasm by all those who could not face even the shortest journey without their beloved books. They also delighted travelers whose voyage would be incomplete without a search for rare editions or books only to be found far from home. The compartments of the library trunk were packed tight, with canvas straps holding seven to ten books as though they were a set.
