A rare Louis Vuitton desk trunk, circa 1925. In LV monogrammed canvas and all original brass hardware, circa 1925.
The trunk opens to reveal a fitted interior with foldaway desk flap. The standing trunks were easy to handle, took up very little room when standing, and did not need to be unpacked during a stay.
A 1910 promotional brochure by Louis Vuitton recommended ignoring the hotel furniture which was often soiled and that everyone had a key for. A collapsible writing flap on which one could scribble on a visiting card or chateau stationery justified the name “Desk Trunk”!
Original Louis Vuitton desk trunks of this size are very rare and collectable.
