An English antique center table.
|
A very important English Exhibition quality center table. The table top is profusely inlaid with naturalistic forms, it sits on a twin pedestal base, which is finely carved with Putti figures as part of each pedestal. One figure cradles in its arms a cornucopia, while the other figure cradles a small and thoroughly charming figure of a small dragon. This table represents the very finest quality that was available in mid 19th century English furniture making. The table is in the manner of William Cookes of Warwick, England. |
